Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading curator of experiences, in collaboration with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, announced that Yas Masjid at Yas Bay, the Emirate’s vibrant new waterfront destination on Yas Island, is open and started welcoming worshipers last month.
The uniquely designed mosque, which has been handed over to the Islamic Affairs for management, is a community cornerstone. It is a step towards achieving Miral’s promise for Yas Bay; creating a unique contemporary community within an unparalleled waterside for residents and visitors alike.
Situated within the Residences at Yas Bay, Yas Masjid features a unique structure that is inspired by modern Islamic art and replaces the traditional dome with horizontal Mashribiya panels. These panels extend across the building to provide a striking and dynamic impression for visitors. Yas Masjid accommodates around 800 worshipers within two separate prayer halls designed for males and females.
Yas Bay is located on the southern end of Yas Island and is set to be Abu Dhabi’s premier waterfront destination. The AED 12 billion development comprises three distinct and integrated areas, including: The Waterfront, Residences at Yas Bay, and Yas Creative Hub. Miral’s AED 4 billion investment in the overall Yas Bay masterplan encompasses developing the public realm and infrastructure of Yas Bay Waterfront, Etihad Arena, the Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island, a beach club, as well as a pier that is set to have 20 F&B brands and five leisure and entertainment attractions.
