The Sea Turtle Population Tracking Programme uses tracking technologies and rescue data to better understand and protect endangered sea turtles in the Arabian Gulf. Building on previous studies, the programme generates critical data to inform conservation policy and marine protection strategies.

The Sea Turtle Population Tracking Programme transforms rescue and stranding data into actionable conservation science. Through GPS tagging and monitoring of juvenile and adult turtles, the initiative maps movement, identifies feeding ground hotspots and improves understanding of population health and resilience in the face of environmental changes and anthropogenic pressure.

Building on existing knowledge, this data will play a vital role in reinforcing current marine conservation policy in the UAE as well as reinforcing regional environmental strategies. Alongside its scientific contribution, the programme actively engages communities and schools, building awareness and fostering public participation in protecting marine ecosystems.
